First Meeting of the WB6 Capital Market Authorities

In line with its activities on the implementation of the Multi Annual Action Plan (MAP) for a Regional Economic Area (REA), the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) is organising the first meeting of the Western Balkan Six (WB6) Capital Market Authorities “Diversification of financial systems to boost investment’, which is to take place in Vienna, Austria on 19 December 2017.

Under the MAP, an action aimed to support the integration of financial markets in the region has been prioritized under the investments chapter to facilitate the uptake by WB6 of economic development strategies linked to capital market reforms. Therefore, this meeting will aim to commence establishment of regional platform for South East Europe’s (SEE) financial markets integration, and identify the needs on capital markets development based on existing analytics and reform initiatives. The meeting will also explore opportunities for broader capital markets integration, and assess the need for development of a regional strategy for capital markets development. 
 
It will gather representatives of the Western Balkans authorities in charge of financial markets: ministries of finance, securities commissions, and stock exchanges, along with international partners: World Bank, Vienna Initiative, The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), SEE Link, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), and the European Commission.
