It has been a great pleasure for the RCC team to meet and greet and hear the citizens of our region in the Street Installations project. We are only half way through it, but have already had most pleasant and illuminating experiences in Podgorica and Tirana last month and in Skopje this Tuesday (25 November 2014). And what a time we had! We enjoyed the hospitality of the citizens of Skopje, saw and heard some amazing street artists, met and talked to a number of positive young people, heroes of our time and once again we were witness to the desire of the peoples of the region to share their experiences, their difficulties, fears and hopes for the future.

We were happy and honoured to host one of the greatest guitar players in the world, Vlatko Stefanovski, who joined us in a gesture of support and signed his CDs. Most of Skopje’s television stations sent their crews to record this “street performance” in the city centre.

Thank you, Skopje, for a wonderful day, Pristina, here we come on Thursday!

The goal of the Street Installation project is to “touch base”, to hear about the problems and hopes of the region’s citizens, to feel the pulse of our nations and to pass on their messages to our respective governments and the EU institutions. To promise that the Regional Cooperation Council is doing and will continue to do its best for a better future for us all. The grand goal of Euro Atlantic integration is not something we can individually achieve, at least as quickly as we can if we join forces. And that is what regional cooperation is about, that is what the RCC is about. We all want the same things for ourselves and the generations to come: Jobs, a decent standard of living, decent road and rail links, an efficient and fair judicial system. We want stability and growth. Surely, that is not too much to ask for? And what you see here is exactly what the citizens of Podgorica, Tirana, and now Skopje have been telling us. The RCC hears them and the RCC will pass the message on.

We are looking forward to meeting the citizens of Pristina on Thursday (27 November 2014) at the Youth and Sports centre in Luan Haradinaj street from 10 am. Zagreb, Belgrade and Sarajevo – we will be with you very soon!
