International Conference: The Western Balkans and the European Union Moving? In the right direction?

An International conference titled ‘The Western Balkans and the European Union Moving? In the right direction?’ will take place in Brussels, Belgium on 3-4 July 2018. It is organised under the Western Balkans Reflection Forum Initiative and in the framework of the Austrian Presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU).       

The Secretary General of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) Goran Svilanovic will take part in the roundtable discussion on the first Conference day, focusing on the state of the EU Enlargement in the light of the recent developments. Among the topics to be debated during the Conference are: Four years of “real additional progress”: The contribution of the Berlin process to EU enlargement; Re-thinking European integration beyond the current approach to enlargement;  and The Western Balkans on the European agenda between the Sibiu European Council, Brexit and European elections.

The two-day Conference will gather representatives of the European Commission, EU Member States’ officials, Think-tanks, international, intergovernmental and civil society organisation, and academia from Europe and Western Balkans.
