RCC Tourism Project developing new partnerships at the 8th Annual Advisory Forum on Cultural Routes of Council of Europe

26 September 2018-28 September 2018 Görlitz, Germany

The RCC’s Tourism Development and Promotion Project will attend the 8th Annual Advisory Forum on Cultural Routes of Council of Europe (CoE) to present its initiatives in the development of joint Western Balkans cultural tourism routes through bilateral contact and roundtable discussions and explore possibilities for new partnerships. The Forum will discuss the added value of certification of routes by the CoE and its socio-economic impact, development of joint strategies at international, regional and national level, and interaction with other EU heritage initiatives.

The 2018 Annual Advisory Forum is organized by the Council of Europe (Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes) in cooperation with the City of Görlitz, the Saxon Ministry of the Interior and the German Federal Foreign Office. It will gather presidents and managers of certified cultural routes, representatives of the ministries of the CoE Member States, and associations of new projects.

In the cultural tourism segment, the RCC’s Project, which is funded by the EU, works to develop the concept of “Crossroad of Civilisations” in the Western Balkans as a regional umbrella identity, as well as two sets of joint regional tourism routes based on post World War II monuments and their particular design and art, and on archaeological sites from the Roman period and their integration in the existing cultural routes.
