Open Science: Development of Open Access Policies for Research Data

The Working Group on Open Science is to meet in Brussels on 30 January 2019, when the steps to develop open access policies for research data will be presented. 

The participants will give overview of the developments on open data policies in the Western Balkans and discuss challenges and requirements to improve these policies. They will also discuss Open Science in the context of Horizon 2020, European Commission’s € 100 billion worth prestigious research and innovation funding programme for which the ministries responsible for science of the Western Balkan Six, presented an initial statement on the Western Balkans participation in the Horizon Europe in July last year.

The day after, on 31st of January, two participants of the regional Working Group on Open Science will participate at the regular EU member states’ Meeting of the Commission Expert Group on National Points of Reference on Access to and Preservation of Scientific Information, where among other topics, participants will discuss the inputs for the next report on  Access to and Preservation of Scientific Information in Europe, which will, similar to previous year,  include annex concerning Western Balkans.
