The Regional Cooperation Council convened on September 11 in Bled (Slovenia) directors and experts of the national security authorities from the SEE (SEENSA) in order to discuss the importance of boosting cyber resilience in the Western Balkans and the South East Europe.

The 8th SEENSA meeting, under the Slovenian rotating chairmanship, took place under the umbrella of the Bled Strategic Forum. SEENSA Experts have also discussed on how to in legal and practical sense reconcile two major principles: Open access to all relevant information to all citizens, and the need to protect classified information (disclosure on „need-to-know“ basis). Particularly sensitive is the issue of dealing with classified information in criminal cases brought to a court of justice. If certain categories of citizens (like: highest state dignitaries, judges and attorneys at law) are to be given privileged access to classified information, it should be legally very precisely defined, but no solutions are unproblematic.

The participant agreed upon to continue discussing issues pertinent to filling the systemic voids related to the vetting procedure before the courts of justice according to EU standards. Albanian NSA was selected to be the next SEENSA chairman and to host next meetings of the SEENSA WG and directors level meeting.
