In the previous period, Roma Integration Action Team facilitated two workshops, which were held with the aim to draft the new Roma Strategic Frameworks in accordance with the goals and objectives of the document presented by the European Commission in October 2020. The new document, EU Roma Framework for equality, inclusion, and participation 2020 -2030, sets more ambitious and measurable targets focusing on inclusion, antigypsyism, and negative effects of COVID-19 and also serves as a guideline to drafting new Strategies for Roma Inclusion in the Western Balkans.
The first workshop was organised together with the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia and gathered around 20 participants from public institutions and civil societies. The topics discussed included education, employment, civil registration, health, housing, antigypsyism, and other relevant subjects. The workshop was delivered over the five days in beautiful Ohrid.
The second workshop was organised together with the Office for Good Governance - Office of the Prime Minister in Kosovo* and also gathered around 20 participants, both representatives of the public institutions and civil societies. The participants joined their knowledge to create the best possible outcome and discussed the pillars of the new Strategy for Inclusion of Roma in Kosovo* for the period 2022-2026, as well as the Action Plan for its implementation.
Roma Integration Action Team supports Governments in the Western Balkan region and aims to contribute to reducing the socio-economic gap between the Roma and non-Roma population in the Western Balkans, and strengthen the institutional obligations of governments to incorporate and deliver specific Roma integration goals in mainstream policy developments.
