Description | Starting point is a comparative legal analysis of collective redress in consumer protection in the EU and South East Europe carried out by legal experts from the SEELS Network, CPOs from the region and international legal experts. The SEELS Network will concentrate on the regional implementation of the Directive 2009/22/EC (injunctions for the protection of consumers' interests), Directive 2013/11/EU (about alternative dispute resolutions for consumer disputes) and 2014/104/EU (compensatory damages for infringements of competition rules). Representatives of the CPOs will provide their practical experience and will propose measures to improve the involvement of consumer protection organisations. The international experts will analyse the approach taken by the EU and selected EU Member States which have a similar legislative frame work as the one in the region (Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and England / Wales). The findings and recommendations from the comparative legal analysis should provide the responsible institutions and organisations a basis for exchange, which should lead to the development of a regional action plan. This regional action plan will also incorporate the conception and implementation of three training modules in order to strengthen regional capacities for implementing collective redress and handling collective claims more professionally. The evaluation of the recommendations to the Member States (2013/396/EU) will also be taken into account in the implementation of the sub-project. The COPs of the CONWEB network will improve their services during this sub-project and they will carry out a regional awareness campaign on collective redress. |
