Description | The regional project is continuation of the initiatives already under way and previously supported by UN Women and the Austrian Development Agency in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Moldova. The results of those initiatives and the institutional demand for technical and financial support from UN Women has inspired the new project phase which aims to address remaining gaps and see full impact of the project on the public policy systems of these countries. The project draws on the recommendations of the external evaluation of the previous project phase, Gender Responsive Budgeting (GRB) analysis of selected programs which include institutional capacity and needs assessments, consultation with partners and the latest country recommendations/progress reports of the CEDAW Committee and the European Commission. Involving a considerable number of governmental and non-governmental actors, the project has been designed to contribute to the implementation of international and national gender equality commitments through the integration of GRB into national and local planning and budgeting systems. The project aims to further strengthen the capacities of central and local governments to fully integrate GRB in the planning and budgeting systems; and of non-governmental actors to hold governments accountable to gender equality commitments using GRB as a tool. |
