Ministers of the Western Balkans endorse the IISG mechanism in the Western Balkans

Today, at Brdo pri Kranju, Slovenia, the IISG Board at the level of ministers of interior/security was convened in the framework of the hosting Brdo Process led by the Slovenian Ministry of the Interior. The ministers expressed their full support and endorsed the establishment of the IISG framework together with the Terms of Reference to guide the process. Mr Rajko Kozmelj, Programme Manager at DCAF Ljubljana, was appointed – Chair of the IISG Support Group, which is to be hosted by DCAF Ljubljana. The director of the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF) Ambassador Thomas Gürber has expressed DCAF’s full commitment to the task of hosting the IISG Support Group and gratitude for the vested trust.

The leading roles (Lead Partner) of the respective pillars of the IISG were entrusted to DCAF Ljubljana, Slovenia and Austria (Pillar I – WBCTi), the PCC SEE Secretariat (Pillar II – WBCSCi), and DCAF Ljubljana and Austria  (Pillar III). Lead Partners have committed to execute their roles in a coordinated and transparent manner.
