RCC to present ‘Regional Employment Report on the Western Balkans Six’ and preliminary benchlearning exercise outcomes

Regional Cooperation Council (RCC)’s Employment and Social Affairs Platform (ESAP), is to present the ‘Regional Employment Report on the Western Balkans Six’  as well as the preliminary results of the ongoing reginal PES benchlearning process at the conference " Boosting the social dimension – the contribution of economic governance to decent work and life in the Western Balkans and Turkey ", organized by the European Commission in Belgrade on 31 January 2018.

A special highlight will be given to active labour market policies and Public Employment Services.

The conference participants will hear about the ESAP activities, focusing on the above mentioned report, analyzing the current situation, trends, challenges, policies and recommendations for the labour markets in the WB6 region. The ESAP will also present the preliminary results of the of the regional PES benchlearning exercise, which included self-assessment and external assessment in crucial areas as aspects of PES performance, conducted in November and December 2017. Participants will hear the economy-by-economy data collected by Public Employment Services (PES) based on several indicators, such as Transition from unemployment to employment and Number of people leaving the PES unemployment records as well as the good practices for each economy as one of the outcomes of the benchlearning workshops.

The conference will support joint governance efforts by the EU and enlargement countries on reforms for improving the economic and social situation of all citizens in the Western Balkans and Turkey. It will start with a snapshot of significant recent employment and social trends in the Western Balkans and Turkey, followed by three thematic sessions on the most pertinent and common challenges of the economies and a panel discussion on the delivery of reforms through economic governance. 

The conference will gather participants from administrations of enlargement economies, national and EU Social Partners, EU Member States, academic experts and regional and international organisations.
