08 October 2024 Hamburg, Germany
Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) is to organize The Annual Ministerial Meeting on the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans on 8 October 2024 in Hamburg, Germany.
Ministerial Meeting on the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans (GAWB) is a key platform for advancing environmental sustainability and climate resilience in the region. In alignment with the Sofia Declaration, this meeting unites stakeholders to review progress, tackle challenges, and outline future actions. As part of 2024 Berlin Process, the Regional Cooperation Council, in collaboration with Germany's Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development and alongside support from the European Commission, will host the First Ministerial Meeting on the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans.
The meeting aims to assess the implementation of the GAWB Action Plan, provide strategic guidance, and strengthen regional cooperation. Expected outcomes include enhanced understanding of progress and challenges, renewed commitment through strategic recommendations, and the strengthening of alliances for a more sustainable and climate-resilient Western Balkans. Key initiatives like the adoption of the Regional Action Plan on Prevention of Plastic Pollution, including Marine Litter, and the Western Balkans Climate Adaptation Roadmap will play a central role in shaping future efforts.
