RCC Secretary General Meets Bosnia and Herzegovina Officials in Sarajevo Kapetanovic: Regional cooperation is crucial driver of stability in the Western Balkans

Sarajevo – The Secretary General of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), Amer Kapetanovic, met today with Denis Zvizdic, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konakovic, to discuss the role of regional cooperation in advancing economic and political stability in the Western Balkans and South East Europe, key regional initiatives, as well as the region’s EU path.
Secretary General Kapetanovic emphasized the importance of regional cooperation and initiatives in strengthening the region’s stability, resilience, and economic growth on its EU path.
"Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is hosting the RCC Headquarters in its capital Sarajevo, has always been supportive of the RCC and RCC-led regional initiatives, which is a strong indicator of its commitment to fostering stronger ties within the region that will only accelerate its European aspirations. The RCC remains dedicated to supporting Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region in achieving tangible results through the implementation of regional agendas such as the Common Regional Market, Green Agenda for the Western Balkans and South East Europe 2030 Strategy. Regional cooperation is a crucial driver of stability, security and growth in the Western Balkans," said RCC Secretary General Amer Kapetanovic.
Bosnia and Herzegovina’s officials Mr Zvizdic and Mr Konakovic underscored the importance of strengthening regional economic ties through the Common Regional Market not just as a necessity but a strategic advantage for Bosnia and Herzegovina. They reiterated their support to regional initiatives facilitated by the RCC, as a vehicle for improving connectivity, fostering economic growth, and ensuring political stability in the region, and expressed appreciation of the RCC’s continued role in supporting the region’s efforts in this regard.
The meetings reaffirmed the shared commitment of the RCC and Bosnia and Herzegovina to furthering regional cooperation as a key pillar on the region’s EU path. The RCC will continue working closely with Bosnia and Herzegovina institutions and regional stakeholders to advance policies that bring tangible benefits to citizens across the Western Balkans and South East Europe.
