Ljubljana - As part of his ongoing political consultations with RCC Participants across South East Europe, the Secretary General of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), Amer Kapetanović, visited Ljubljana today where he met with Tanja Fajon, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia, and Aleksander Jevšek, Minister of Cohesion and Regional Development.
The meetings focused on deepening regional cooperation, aligning with EU policies, and advancing the implementation of the Common Regional Market and Green Agenda for the Western Balkans. Discussions also addressed the importance of maintaining political momentum for reforms and regional integration in the context of the EU’s renewed focus on enlargement.
“Slovenia has always been an important partner in supporting our region’s path towards European integration. The discussions today reaffirmed our shared vision: a more connected, resilient, and competitive Western Balkans that advances in step with the European Union, guided by the goals of the SEE2030 Strategy and Common Regional Market (CRM),” said RCC Secretary General Kapetanović.
Deputy Prime Minister Fajon reiterated Slovenia’s continued support to regional cooperation and the RCC’s efforts, emphasizing that South East Europe’s stability and prosperity are crucial for the entire continent. Minister Jevšek highlighted the importance of cohesion and development policies that leave no region behind, noting that inclusive growth and cross-border cooperation are key to accelerating EU integration and ensuring lasting progress.
During his visit to Ljubljana, the RCC Secretary General also met with Marko Štucin, State Secretary for European and Political Affairs, International Law, and the Protection of Interests.
The RCC Secretary General’s consultations will continue in the coming months across the region.
