RCC Secretary General addresses European Parliament’s Working Group on Western Balkans

BRUSSELS/SARAJEVO – The RCC Secretary General Hido Biscevic exchanged views today in Brussels with the European Parliament (EP) rapporteurs for the Western Balkans on RCC activities, and on political situation and developments in Southeast Europe (SEE).
The event was part of a meeting of the Working Group on Western Balkans of the EP’s Committee on Foreign Affairs. The parliamentarians present included Doris Pack and Hannes Swoboda, respectively, Chair and Deputy Chair of the EP Delegation for Relations with the Countries of Southeast Europe, and other Working Group participants.
The meeting of the Working Group on Western Balkans discussed transition process from the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe into the Regional Cooperation Council and new regional ownership over cooperation in SEE.
Secretary General Biscevic informed the European parliamentarians on the RCC activities in the priority areas of economic and social development, energy and infrastructure, justice and home affairs, security cooperation, building human capital, and parliamentary cooperation.
The RCC Secretary General separately met with the Deputy Director of the European Commission’s Directorate General for Enlargement, Jan Truszczynski, to discuss further activities of the RCC in cooperation with the European Commission.
