SARAJEVO – A regional meeting on strengthening social dialogue in South East Europe (SEE) will take place at the premises of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) Secretariat in Sarajevo tomorrow. The event is co-organized by the RCC Secretariat and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation’s Regional Project on Labour Relations and Social Dialogue in South East Europe.

The meeting “Identifying Common Interests in Times of Financial Crisis”, aims at addressing negative consequences of the current economic crisis on jobs and business activities in SEE through better coordination and action at the regional level.

It will gather representatives of trade union and employers organizations from SEE, while its conclusions are expected to reflect the priorities and needs of both the workers and the employers through consensus and mutual understanding.

The event will be opened by RCC Secretariat’s Political Advisor, Alenka Hudek, with the introductory remarks being delivered by Director of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation’s Regional Project on Labour Relations and Social Dialogue in SEE, Roland Feicht, and representatives of the regional trade union forum and employers’ organizations.

The regional conference will provide an opportunity for sharing ideas and good practices by addressing practical ways to develop effective social dialogue on policies and activities, ensuring the sustainability of such efforts.

Journalists are invited to attend the opening of the conference on Monday, 22 June 2009, at 9.00 a.m., at the premises of the Regional Cooperation Council Secretariat, Trg Bosne i Hercegovine 1/V, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
