Speech by RCC Secretary General at the SecuriMeter2024 presentation

16 December 2024 | SPEECH

RCC presented the data of the 4th RCC’s survey on security issues in the region - SecuriMeter 2024 - in Tirana on 16 December 2024.

In her opening speech, RCC Secretary General Majlinda Bregu highlighted the evolving and interconnected nature of security challenges in the Western Balkans and Europe. Against a backdrop of low regional security perceptions and rising concerns over war, corruption, and emigration-driven depopulation, she emphasized the critical need for collective action and cooperation. SecuriMeter 2024 reveals key insights into citizens' concerns—ranging from economic insecurity and gender-based violence to corruption and the impact of global conflicts—while also exploring emerging threats like AI misuse and misinformation. Bregu underscored the RCC’s role in fostering resilience and regional collaboration, advocating for security as a universal right and urging continued efforts to build stability, trust, and alignment with European democratic values. The findings, she stressed, serve as a roadmap for actionable change to secure a stable and thriving future for the region.
