Skopje – Ministers of European Affairs of the South East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) expressed their commitment to the continuation of efforts in two important strategic agendas in our region: the Common Regional Market (CRM) for the Western Balkans aligned with the New Growth Plan for the region, and the South East Europe (SEE) 2030 Strategy, at their meeting held in Skopje today. In cooperation with partners, both CRM Action Plan and SEE2030 Strategy have been prepared and their implementation is being coordinated by the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC).

“Keeping an eye on implementation of the current CRM Action Plan, the RCC has already embarked on developing the second iteration of this Plan, which will serve as a vehicle for region’s integration into the EU Single Market. We will continue our efforts to make this strategic document ready to be adopted at this year’s Berlin Process Summit in October in Berlin,” said Amer Kapetanovic, Head of RCC’s Political Department at the meeting.

The meeting participants agreed that the SEECP will continue to pursue political engagement and projects that support the advancement of SEE 2030 Strategy through regional cooperation formats, thus further contributing to the peaceful, prosperous and sustainable development of our region’s societies, creating the conditions for youth to integrate and live in the SEE region, as the exodus of young people impoverishes the region and hinders progress.

“SEE2030 Strategy is a foundation of our common engagement in South East Europe. As an incentive to compare, contrast and improve policies that aim to close the convergence gap we’re soon to finalise the tools to measure our region’s performance. As we stand on the precipice of significant global and regional changes, the essence of our collaborative efforts through SEECP is not only to navigate the complexities of integration but to redefine the future of our region,” concluded Kapetanovic.

Following the meeting, organised under the Skopje’s SEECP Chairpersonship-in-Office (C-i-O), its participants issued a Joint Statement on Enhanced Regional Cooperation, Trust-Building, and Accelerated EU Integration endorsed by SEECP Participants.
