South East European Employment and Social Policy Network to hold first meeting under RCC umbrella in Sarajevo tomorrow

22 June 2009

SARAJEVO – The Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) Secretariat will tomorrow, for the first time under its umbrella, host a meeting of the Employment and Social Policy Network of South East Europe (SEE), in its premises in Sarajevo.

The goal of the meeting is to contribute to the design, monitoring and evaluation of national employment and social policies through knowledge sharing. It is expected to help develop political and technical capacity required to promote regional employment and social agenda, and to provide a tripartite dialogue forum on employment and labour issues.

Assistant Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Damir Dizdarevic, and RCC Secretariat’s Political Advisor, Alenka Hudek, will open the event.

The meeting is being organized together with the International Labour Organization (ILO), and supported by the European Commission, the Council of Europe, and the Belgium government. The participants, including representatives of relevant ministries and other bodies of public administration responsible for employment policies and national employment agencies in SEE, will work to develop a programme of future Network action.

The SEE Employment and Social Policy Network is intended to act as a permanent regional working-level cooperation mechanism for sharing, disseminating, and managing knowledge and good practices in the realm of employment policy. It is to meet tri-annually, under the RCC Secretariat's auspices.

Journalists are invited to attend the opening of the meeting on Tuesday, 23 June 2009, at 9.00 a.m., at the premises of the Regional Cooperation Council Secretariat, Trg Bosne i Hercegovine 1/V, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
